Charity Ministries
Loaves and Fishes: Answering the call to feed the hungry, parishioners serve an evening meal on the third Wednesday of each month to approximately 250 guests at Dorothy Day Center in St. Paul.
White Bear Food Shelf: Donations of food (specifically on the second Sunday of every month) and volunteer time by parishioners provide support to this local food shelf.
Out to Lunch Program: A monthly Saturday morning ecumenical luncheon served at St. John's in the Wilderness Church. Food and hospitality provided quarterly by St. Mary’s.
A Community Caring for Life: St. Mary’s supports and focuses on broad life issues and specific life projects including
• Appalachian Christmas project is a gift collection in early November to stock the free stores in mission parishes in Kentucky.
• Baby Jesus layettes are made up from a collection of baby items during Advent. Layettes are distributed to Life Care Centers and local agencies that support pregnant women.
• Latvian Outreach provides financial support to the Latvian Catholic Pro-Life Movement. Funds are raised from the spring rummage sale and the Mother’s Day flower sale at church.Paint-A-Thon: St. Mary’s team members participate in the Minneapolis Council of Churches’ program by painting a house in the community on the first weekend of August.
Seasonal Collections (Advent & Lent) and ongoing support of community organizations are also part of the Charity Ministry.
