St. Mary’s Social Justice committee is presenting our third annual summer book club, Just Books. This summer we hope to entice our high school (and interested middle school) friends to join in the conversation. Two of our books are especially written with young adults in mind and the third is timely, well written, and a beacon of hope from Pope Francis. This would be a great opportunity for parents and/or grandparents to team up with a favorite teen and dig into some great literature. Even if you have no teen with whom to share the stories, come anyway–all of these books are bestsellers. Here is the line-up:
Wednesday, July 17: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
Wednesday, August 21: Untwine by Edwidge Danticat
Readers are responsible for obtaining the books. The books on the list are available to download, through libraries, and at bookstores. Book club conversations begin at 7:00 PM and last about 90 minutes, meeting in the St. Joseph Room.
