Reclaiming Sundays: Sunday as a Day for the Lord and Family
Synod Year 3: “Parents as Primary Educators of Their Children in the Ways of the Faith”
To support parents as primary educators of their children in the Ways of Faith, the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis has published, “Reclaiming Sundays: Recover Sunday as a Day for the Lord and Family.”
This guide lays out – beginning in September – monthly themes and practical suggestions for families – and the lay faithful in all walks of life – to build lasting habits and anchor their week in a joyful, prayerful and restful observance of keeping Sunday holy.
“Sunday is essential for keeping family life centered and balanced, and yet so many families are struggling with a frantic pace of life and daily demands that keep them from experiencing the joy, peace and renewal that God desires for all families.
“The intent of this initiative is not just another activity to add upon already over-scheduled calendars of parishes, schools and families. Rather, at the recommendation of the Blue-Ribbon Commission on Parents as Primary Educators, this effort is designed to meet families where they are and … help them take meaningful steps to reorient their Sundays (and their entire lives) to reflect the gift of the Lord’s Day.”
