Faith Formation Overview

St Mary of the Lake provides Faith Formation for children ages 3 through grade 8 who attend public school. Our programs offer options that encourage and support children and families along our lifelong journey of faith.

Program choices for 2022/2023 Faith Formation:

Summer Academy

June 20 – 24, 2022

Youth entering grades 1 -8 attend from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Children aged 4 – entering Kindergarten attend from 8:30 – 11:30 AM

This model offers children a program rich in Catholic heritage, traditions, and doctrine entwined with music, art, and Catholic Social Teaching in an immersive environment.

$150 per child, $350 family maximum, registration is open January 12 – April 30, 2022

Wednesday Family Formation

6:30 – 8:00 PM

This once-a-month program welcomes the whole family to attend together. The session includes teaching of the unit material as a large group, time for parents and children to work through the workbooks, and a short special activity or prayer experience. Some months begin with a pot luck dinner.

Home Program

Families are given material with which to teach their children in their home. Parents have the choice of a Lectionary based style curriculum or a traditional book style.

Sacrament preparation is separate from our Faith Formation programs. Enrollment for one full year in any of the above programs is a prerequisite for registering for First Reconciliation/First Eucharist or Confirmation preparation. Learn more about the Sacraments here.

It is the practice of St. Mary of the Lake Church that all individuals or families have access to opportunities to learn and grow in the Catholic faith at St. Mary’s, regardless of ability to pay. If the fee is a hardship for your family, please fill out our Scholarship/Assistance form and return it to the parish office.

Catholic Day School

St. Mary’s Parish Life Center is home to Frassati Catholic Academy. It is there that students in grades Pre-K-8 receive their catechetical instruction along with their regular classes on a daily basis. For more information, visit the Frassati Catholic Academy website.

Sacramental Preparation

Preparation for the Sacraments is separate from our four Faith Formation programs. Enrollment in any of the above options is required before registering for First Reconciliation/Eucharist or Confirmation preparation. Learn more about the Sacraments.
