Growing up in Delano, MN (4 brothers – 3 sisters), Fr. Eilen discerned away from medical school after graduation from college in 1983 (BA in Biology – College of St. Thomas), whereupon he served for 20 years as a Courier Supervisor/Manager/EMT for Midwest MedKab-Olson Ambulance, later part of the HealthEast Hospital System in St. Paul (HealthEast Transportation) before entering St. Paul Seminary in the fall of 2003.
After 6 years of study, Fr. Eilen was ordained a Priest of Jesus Christ on 5/30/09. Previous assignments before becoming the 21st Pastor of St. Mary of the Lake & Moderator of Bl. Frassati Catholic Academy were:
